Bridging Healthcare Divides in East Harlem.
At the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, our commitment to community health goes beyond the classroom. We are proud to introduce you to the East Harlem Health Outreach Partnership (EHHOP), a unique and impactful initiative that exemplifies the values and mission of our institution. EHHOP is more than just a student-run, physician-supervised free clinic; it is a lifeline for uninsured adults in East Harlem, providing confidential and cost-free primary care. Founded in 2004, EHHOP has evolved into a dynamic healthcare model that offers comprehensive services to over 250 patients annually, with more than 1,000 clinic visits across four medical specialties.
EHHOP's mission is deeply rooted in addressing the critical issue of healthcare accessibility. We believe that everyone, regardless of their ability to pay or their insurance status, deserves quality healthcare. Our dedication to comprehensive patient care extends beyond medical treatment; we serve as a bridge to vital medical and social support resources. We create a safe, compassionate, and respectful environment, empowering our patients to actively participate in their physical and emotional well-being. By engaging with our patients and aligning goals, we enhance the effectiveness of our services and foster a positive approach to medicine.
What sets EHHOP apart is our remarkable student-led model. The students of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai are at the heart of this initiative, managing all aspects of clinic operation and administration. A dedicated steering committee of elected medical students ensures the day-to-day clinic operations run smoothly, under the guidance of EHHOP's medical director and program director. Our commitment to expanding our knowledge, skills, and ideals as future physicians drives us to continually improve our services and strengthen our connection to the practice of medicine.
By supporting EHHOP, you are not only investing in the well-being of East Harlem but also in the future of healthcare. Your involvement can help us extend our reach, expand our services, and amplify our impact. Join us in this noble cause, and together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of those who need it most.
