Dr. Conor Gruber is a physician-scientist and instructor specializing in Pediatrics. He completed his MD/PhD training through the Mount Sinai Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) under the mentorship of Dr. Dusan Bogunovic in the Departments of Microbiology and Immunology. Dr. Gruber’s research focuses on rare genetic inflammatory syndromes in children, where he has identified and characterized several novel mutations in cytokine signaling pathways. His work combines basic science discovery and precision medicine, bridging the gap between research and clinical care.
Inspired by the translational impact of his research, Dr. Gruber pursued a Pediatrics Research residency. He was recruited to continue at Mount Sinai, supported by a unique offer to continue his translational immunology research. This support has enabled Dr. Gruber to maintain a productive wet lab research program during residency, allowing him to balance clinical responsibilities with continued contributions to the research field.
Dr. Gruber’s efforts have resulted in significant achievements, including the publication of several first-author manuscripts (with another in preparation), presentations at international conferences, a young investigator award, and applications for junior faculty funding. He credits the resources and mentorship at Mount Sinai for providing the opportunity to remain engaged in research, grow as a mentor, and advance his career as a physician-scientist.
