Alumni Association History
The Mount Sinai Alumni Association was founded in 1896 to support lifelong educational and social relationships among former house staff and attending physicians of the Mount Sinai Hospital. The Alumni Association expanded to welcome members of the School of Medicine with the graduation of its first class in 1970. As the School grew, so did the membership of the Association. The alumni community now consists of: graduates of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, including the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences; current and former house staff of The Mount Sinai Hospital; and current and former faculty members. The Alumni Association focuses its philanthropic goals and priorities on those which advance the the education and training of our physicians and scientists, and the School at large.
The Alumni Board voted in October 2014 to dissolve the corporation, a move that was officially completed in April 2015. The Office of Alumni and Development was created in the Icahn School of Medicine to take over the function of the group. The name Mount Sinai Alumni Association is used in communications but is not a legal entity.
