Keep Your Icahn Email Address

Your student-identifying email account expires the April following your graduation. 

But wait! 

You don’t have to say goodbye to your “.edu” account upon graduation – simply claim your MSSM Lifetime Email account with us (Ex. Firstname.Lastname [at] and set it up via Gmail. Your MSSM Alumni Gmail account is not just any email – it's your key to a world of benefits and connections, and staying linked with the vibrant community at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. 

Claim your MSSM Lifetime Email by reaching out to ASCIT [at] (ASCIT[at]mssm[dot]edu) with your full name and graduation year. 


Your MSSM Lifetime Email Account Gmail account is a way to stay connected with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and your fellow graduates. Since this account is “.edu” based, you will also be eligible for discounts on subscriptions like The Wall Street Journal, Amazon Prime Membership, Microsoft, and more.

When activated, this account does not erase or replace your current Gmail account. Unlike your personal Gmail account, these new accounts will not be subject to advertising and Google provides other privacy safeguards within an academic environment. So feel free to keep your current personal Gmail account if you wish, but activate your Alumni Gmail account to take advantage of the benefits, privacy and connectivity that come with a “.edu” account.

The Alumni Gmail account also gives you access to a suite of Google services. From Google Drive for sharing documents to Google Calendar, you're equipped for productivity, organization, and connecting with the world.

Access via web browser - on a laptop or desktop computer

  1. Email and request the generation of an alumni gmail account.
    You may want to bookmark this page for easier access in the future.
  2. You will receive an email for two-step verification to complete the creation of the email account. This two-step verification will expire in 24 hours, please check spam folders.
  3. Enter your Alumni Account username (firstname.lastname [at] and password provided by IT.
    You will be required to change your password upon the first login.
  4. Create a strong password using numbers, symbols and mix of upper and lower case letters.
    • Don't use personal information or common words as a password.
    • If a username is already filled in and you need to sign in to a different account, click Sign in with a different account.
    • If you see a page describing Gmail instead of the sign-in page, click Sign in in the top right corner of the page.

To sign in, add your Alumni account powered by Gmail (firstname.lastname [at]

When you add an Alumni account to the built-in Mail app, you can check this account in addition to any other accounts you already have set up

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Tap “Mail”
  3. Tap “Accounts”
  4. Tap “Add accounts”
  5. Tap “Google”
  6. Enter your full Alumni account address (firstname.lastname [at]
  7. Tap “Next”
  8. Enter your Alumni account password.
    • If this is your first time signing in, enter the temporary password provided by IT. You will be prompted to set a new password after you click “Next.”
  9. Tap “Next”
  10. Tap “Save”

After your account is added, you can see your Alumni account e-mail in the Mail app by tapping the profile image in the top right.


To sign in, add your Alumni account powered by Gmail (firstname.lastname [at]

When you add an account to the Gmail app, you can sign in to the app using that account. You can also add multiple accounts to the app and switch among them.

If you aren't on the latest version of the Gmail app, update the Gmail app.

  1. Open the Gmail app.
  2. In the top left, tap Menu.
  3. To the right of your username, tap the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  4. Tap Add account: (firstname.lastname [at]
  5. Follow the steps on the screen to add your account.
  6. After your account is added, you'll be signed in to Alumni email any time you open the Gmail app.
