Dr. Donald Gribetz passes away

on April 10,2010

GRIBETZ, Donald, M.D., The Mount Sinai Alumni Association and all of its members mourn the passing of Dr. Donald Gribetz on April 10, 2010. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Gribetz came to Mount Sinai Hospital as a research assistant in Pediatrics in 1953. Dr. Gribetz was a recipient of the Jacobi Medallion in 1993, for his distinguished achievement in the field of medicine and his extraordinary service to the Hospital, the School, and the Alumni Association, the most prestigious honor the Alumni Association bestows.

He was also a holder of the Golden Headed Cane in 2000. The Gold-Headed Cane Award is the pinnacle to which a Mount Sinai physician may aspire. This award is rarely presented, and only then to the physician who best represents the professional and personal traditions of Mount Sinai.

The Alumni Association and its Executive Board, Martin S. Goldstein, Jeffrey Laitman, Lyris Schonholz, Jonathan Schiff, and Elliot Rayfield, extend its sincere condolences to his wife, Edith, and his long surviving legacy of children and grandchildren.
