Appointment of Vicki LoPachin, MD, as Chief Medical Officer of the Mount Sinai Health System

We are pleased to share the appointment of Vicki LoPachin, MD, as Chief Medical Officer of the Mount Sinai Health System.
Dr. LoPachin has served as Chief Medical Officer of The Mount Sinai Hospital since 2014, building and improving upon a culture of quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. Together with David L. Reich, MD, President and Chief Operating Officer of The Mount Sinai Hospital, and key stakeholders in nursing and infection control, Dr. LoPachin has worked to improve quality measures and patient outcomes through enhanced collaboration, communication, and education. Dr. LoPachin has championed many successful safety and quality initiatives, including serious adverse event responses, hospital throughput improvements, and excess day reductions, reducing hospital-acquired infections and decreasing sepsis mortality.
Dr. LoPachin received her MD from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she was selected as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed her residency and chief residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai and then joined the medical staff as a voluntary attending physician in the Department of Medicine. Demonstrating leadership at an early stage in her career, Dr. LoPachin served in many capacities, including Lead Physician Advisor and Medical Director of Case Management, Chair of the Utilization Review Committee, member of the Executive Committee of the Medical Board, and President of the Association of Attending Staff.
Prior to serving in her current role at Mount Sinai, Dr. LoPachin was Medical Director of North Shore University Hospital, where she led successful efforts to improve quality, safety, operational performance, revenue cycle, and case management. While at North Shore, Dr. LoPachin also received her MBA with distinction in Health Service Management from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University.
