Appointment of Christopher T. Spina, MS, as Sr. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NYEE

We are delighted to share the appointment of Christopher T. Spina, MS, to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai (NYEE). In this role, Mr. Spina will help lead the transformation of clinical operations at NYEE, further enhancing the patient experience at the hospital and its affiliated medical clinics and facilities.
With more than 25 years in health care, Mr. Spina has in-depth experience planning, implementing, and directing a wide variety of clinical, educational, and research programs. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Spina served as Executive Director of Program Development, Global Services at New York-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP). He established clinical and educational programs with NYP’s academic partners and, as an internal consultant for NYP, led complex, multi-site performance improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, revenue capture, expense reduction, process standardization, and technology process integration.
He began his health care career in 1987 as an ambulatory care and emergency room supervisor at The Mount Sinai Hospital and held a variety of operational management positions there, including the management of inpatient clinical service areas of rehabilitation medicine, orthopedics, and neurology. From 2000-2003, Mr. Spina served as the Administrative Director for the Mount Sinai Minimally Invasive Surgery Center, before joining Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons as the Administrative Director of Orthopedics.
Mr. Spina received his MS from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health.
