After graduating from Mount Sinai Medical School, Dr. Edelson went on to become an attending in the Department of Medicine at New York University-Bellevue Medical Center in New York, NY for two years prior to commencing his dermatology residency at The New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center in New York City.
Dr. Edelson has been elected to membership in the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, American College of Cryosurgery, The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American Academy of Dermatology, and The New York Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Edelson has recently published the Master Case Series article on Hand Recontouring in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology and has authored the chapter on Hand Recontouring in the soon to be published Wiley-Blackwell textbook, “Cosmetic Dermatology:A Comprehensive Medical and Surgical Text” edited by Zoe Draelos, MD.
Dr. Edelson has extensive training in the use of fillers and in 1982 was a clinical investigator for the Collagen Corporation for the first dermal filler, Zyderm. He especially enjoys hand recontouring as well as facial volume restoration.
Dr. Edelson lives in Manhattan and has enjoyed a second career as an actor for Woody Allen. As a bit of movie trivia, he has appeared in more Woody Allen Films (fourteen) than any other actor. Dr. Edelson hopes to be in Mr. Allen’s next film, which he plans to shoot in Paris in the summer of 2010. Dr. Edelson is very confident that his scenes wont wind up on the editing room floor as he once jokingly said to Mr. Allen: “Woody, remember if you cut….I’ll cut!”, and since that time, somehow he has made it into the final “cut”!
