Dr. Meltzer, who was Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Oculoplastics Service at The Mount Sinai Hospital, was an internationally renowned authority in the world of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery and was instrumental in helping to shape the Department of Ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, advancing its academic mission of excellence in patient care, education, and research.  He was an extraordinarily devoted physician, mentor, and friend who had a profound effect on everyone with whom he interacted.  His devotion to training our residents and fellows was legendary, and he will be deeply missed.
