We are extremely pleased to share that The Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH) has been listed on the “Honor Roll” in the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings for 2016. Mount Sinai ranked No. 15 nationally out of 20 hospitals on the Honor Roll and approximately 5,000 evaluated by U.S. News.
Seven MSH departments ranked among the top 20 nationally in their specialties, and four other departments were among the top 50.
The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai ranked No. 10 nationally for Ophthalmology, one point higher than last year. Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Mount Sinai St. Luke’s, and Mount Sinai West all ranked regionally.
Nationally ranked departments at The Mount Sinai Hospital were:
- Gastroenterology/GI Surgery, No. 7
- Cardiology/Heart Surgery, No. 8
- Diabetes/Endocrinology No. 11
- Neurology/Neurosurgery, No. 12
- Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), No. 20
Eight of these departments improved their rankings from 2015: Cancer, Diabetes/Endocrinology, ENT, Gastroenterology/GI Surgery, Nephrology, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, and Pulmonology.
U.S. News also ranked six Mount Sinai Health System departments as “High Performing”: Gynecology, Psychiatry, and Rehabilitation at The Mount Sinai Hospital; the Nephrology and Neurology/Neurosurgery departments at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s/Mount Sinai West (considered one hospital for rankings purposes); and Neurology/Neurosurgery at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.
The Mount Sinai Hospital ranked third regionally, in both New York City and the New York metropolitan area.
In addition, in a significant improvement over last year, The Mount Sinai Hospital received the top rating in eight of nine Procedure and Condition Ratings, a separate, data-driven ranking that this year formed an important component of U.S. News’s Honor Roll calculations.
