We are pleased to share the appointment of David D’Souza, MD, MPH as Interim Medical Director, Employee Health Service for the Mount Sinai Health System. In this role Dr. D’Souza will provide strategic direction and operational oversight for Employee Health Services across the health system.
Dr. D’Souza has been employed by Mount Sinai Beth Israel (MSBI) for the last 23 years. He has held the position of Medical Director of Occupational Medicine/Employee Health at MSBI since 2001.
He initially trained as a family medicine physician, holds a master’s degree in Public Health from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and completed a residency in Occupational Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is board certified in Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine-Occupational Medicine and is a Fellow of both national organizations.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of the New York Occupational and Environmental Medicine Association and a past President. He has operated a full service Occupational Medicine office at MSBI serving employees and the general public and has oversight of four college-based student health centers in Manhattan. He has been actively involved in development of annual health compliance, employee wellness and return to work program at MSBI, as well as health and well-being programs for house staff at MSBI.
Dr. D’Souza succeeds Madelynn Azar-Cavanagh, MD, who has left Mount Sinai to pursue alternate professional opportunities. We thank Dr. Azar-Cavanagh for her service, and wish her well in her future endeavors.
