New York magazine has named 297 physicians from the hospitals of the Mount Sinai Health System to its 2016 “Best Doctors” list – the most of any New York City academic medical institution. The 2016 issue features a total of 1,300 physicians from the New York metropolitan region.
The increase from last year’s total of 263 physicians listed from the Health System highlights the continued exceptional level of care offered at the Mount Sinai Health System. In addition, we have once again outranked our top regional competitors, including New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center/Weill Cornell Medical Center (270 physicians listed); New York University/NYU Langone Medical Center/Hospital for Joint Diseases (158); and Northwell Health (formerly North Shore-LIJ Health System) (190).
The May 30 “Best Doctors” issue is available online at www.nymag.com/bestdoctors. The full press release can be found here.
Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a New York City research and information firm, determines the rankings based on a peer-review survey that asks 12,000 licensed physicians to nominate the physicians who, in their judgment, are the best in their field and related fields. Castle Connolly tabulates the results, vets the nominee pool, and selects the top 10 percent of the region’s physicians to be published in its annual guidebook, Top Doctors: New York Metro Area. For the past 19 years, Castle Connolly has been providing New York with a shorter version of this list for publication in the magazine.
Please join us in congratulating our colleagues on their extraordinary efforts. We are proud of the work they do to care for patients and their families in this region and beyond.
