With online voting for U.S. News & World Report’s 2016-2017 “Best Hospitals” and “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings now open, we would like to briefly review important information about voting procedures and encourage your participation.

The primary way for physicians to vote is through Doximity.com, the largest online social networking service for physicians in the country, with more than 60 percent of U.S. doctors registered as verified members.

All board certified adult and pediatric physicians who have registered for a Doximity account will be eligible to vote. If you registered for an account after December 11, 2015, there is a chance that Doximity.com will not count your vote this year, although we still encourage you to vote. If you have not already done so, please register for your account over the next few weeks so you are eligible to vote in the future (see the instructions below).

In the unlikely instance that you receive a printed ballot in the mail after you have already voted online, please make sure to fill it out and submit the printed ballot as well. Nelson Figueroa, Director of Marketing, is gathering information on printed ballots, so if you receive one please contact him at Nelson.figueroa@mountsinai.org.

We encourage you to vote and support the increased rankings of individual Mount Sinai hospitals. It is important for you to realize that each hospital in the Mount Sinai Health System is ranked separately, so entries need to be very specific with full, proper names. Enter “Mount Sinai St. Luke’s,” for instance, instead of simply “Mount Sinai,” or the entry might default to The Mount Sinai Hospital. This is particularly important when you are asked to list up to five U.S. hospitals that provide the best inpatient care for challenging medical or surgical conditions in your specialty.

Online voting for “Best Children’s Hospitals” and “Best Hospitals” will close on March 4, 2016. Voting results will be published in July 2016.

Eligibility: All physicians who are board certified in an adult or pediatric specialty that is ranked by U.S. News and who registered with Doximity.com by December 11, 2015, are eligible to vote in the rankings for that specialty only. The list of specialties ranked by U.S. News can be found below; the specific board certifications that qualify for voting can be seen at https://www.doximity.com/surveys/best_hospitals/eligibility.

If you are eligible to vote, after logging into Doximity.com you should see, in the right-hand column about midway down the screen, a U.S. News “Best Hospitals” logo followed by the words: “U.S. News Best Hospitals Nominations. Nominate up to 5 hospitals in <your specialty> for 2016-17 U.S. News Best Hospitals.” Click on the word “Nominate” to cast your vote.

If you are not board certified in an eligible specialty or you did not register in time, you may see, in place of that link, a “Check Eligibility” link. If you believe that you are eligible to vote and are seeing that link in error, please email support@doximity.com for assistance. If you are board certified in an eligible specialty but did not register with Doximity.com in time to vote this year, we encourage you to register now so you can vote in future years. Registration instructions are below.

Finding Mount Sinai: In the dropdown list of hospitals eligible to receive your vote, our main campus is listed as “Mount Sinai Hospital,” not “The Mount Sinai Hospital.” This is to make it easier for non-Mount Sinai doctors to find us, so be sure to look in the “M” section to cast your vote.
