Peter C. Weber, MD, MBA, Appointed Director of the Ear Institute at NYEE

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Peter C. Weber, MD, MBA, as Director of the Ear Institute at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai (NYEE). Dr. Weber will also join the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai as a Professor of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.  

                           

The Ear Institute at NYEE is the most comprehensive center in the New York City metropolitan area providing speech/language/listening therapy, and audiological, educational, and social work services for children and adults who are deaf and hard of hearing. 

 

Prior to joining NYEE, Dr. Weber served as Chief Medical Officer at Cochlear Americas and was Professor and Director of Otology/Neurotology at University of Massachusetts Medical School. In previous roles, he was head of the Otology-Neurotology Department and Co-Director of the Hearing Implant Program at the Cleveland Clinic. He was also Acting Chairman in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina.

  

He has served on the Board of Directors and was a past President of the Board of Governors for Otolaryngology  within the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. 

 

Dr. Weber received his BS and MS degrees in engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, his MBA degree from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, and his medical degree from Albany Medical College. He completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and completed a fellowship in Neurotology at the The University of Iowa.

 

Dr. Weber has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed literature, authored three books and multiple book chapters, and has led several National Institutes of Health-sponsored research projects.  He currently serves as editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Otolaryngology.  His clinical interests include surgery for pediatric and adult ear disease including cochlear implants, implantable hearing aids, infectious cholesteatomas, acoustic neuromas, ear tumors, skull bone lesions, facial nerve disorders, and vertigo.
